Genre Research: Birdbox

The movie bird box incorporates many genres alongside thriller. The genre of horror as fear is inflicted in the viewers as we do not know what the creature is. Drama as there is a lot of tension in the film. Scientific fiction as the creatures in the movie are made up and not real. As well as Apocalyptic as the world is under lockdown and fighting for its survival. This movie is also very suspenseful and keeps you on your toes, hence, the reason for it being a thriller.

An element of a thriller that I saw in this movie that I will be using in my opening scene is suspense. Then suspense in this movie kept me on my toes. With each passing scene, I kept on wondering if they would make it out alive. Especially when the undercover guy that was staying with them, tried to make them all see the creature. Or when the woman killed herself after I thought that she was going to make it. The element of provoking anxiety is another element that I also would like to use. This element correlates alongside suspense very well. If I was to use suspense in my opening scene, viewers would want to know what happens next. The feeling of being anxious would heighten the thrill that spreads throughout their body as one is anticipating what's to come. Anxiety makes the feeling of suspense feel as if it is going to suffocate them if all is not revealed. Therefore, this would be good for our opening scene as we want to draw viewers in.

There were not any elements that I didn’t like in this movie. However, I wished that they had revealed what the creatures looked like as it was never explicitly shown.
