Filming blog for music video project

Image
Hello everyone and welcome back to another blog. I recently came back from Thanksgiving break. Last time my partner and I worked on our storyboard. Prior to our Thanksgiving break, we planned to film but we were not required to film during the break. Our plan for the break was to film for two days and after filming we would edit.  We did not have set dates because we knew that our plans may change or might face some issues. For the filming process, we faced some encounters throughout the break. Kendia spent the Thanksgiving break with her cousins so were not going to film at my house. I would have to go to her for filming which was not a problem for me. We could not film on Monday since I was celebrating my mom's birthday. We spoke with each other the following day and scheduled to film on Wednesday. On Wednesday, we were not able to film since my mom arrived home from work late so I could not go to Kendia's to film. Thursday was Thanksgiving so we spent time with our families....

Planning storyboard for my music video

Image
Hi everyone, I am back again with another update on my partnered music video with Kendia. Last class, we created a storyboard for our music video. In the first scene, we will be establishing the scene. We are going to make the camera go across the floor, then tilt upwards. After the tilt upwards it will be a high angle facing down on Kendia and me. We will have a notebook and pencil in our hands, then throw them down, and start to yawn and stretch. In the second scene, we are going to be on the bed “sleeping” and this scene will be a slow pan and then it will go into a transition. In the third scene, we will do an over-shoulder shot, where the viewer can see someone calling us on our phone. We are going to throw the phone down after looking at the call. In the fourth scene, we will walk lazily from the bed to the couch. This will be a tracking shot as the camera is following us. In the fifth scene, we are going to put our feet on the couch as if our feet weigh 1,000 pounds to ill...

Planning for my music video

Image
Welcome back, everyone! For this blog, we will plan out how and what we will need for filming our music video. For this music video, we will be filming either at Kendia’s house or my house. We haven't decided as of yet whose house we will be filming at, as it depends on our parent’s schedule and opinion. We decided nevertheless, that we would film in places such as the bedroom, and the living room. This time around we will be the only ones acting out in the video. To do the filming we may have to switch turns or have one of our siblings help us to film. Throughout the entire video, we will be wearing pajamas. We will wear pajama pants with a baggy top such as a sweater or shirt. We will also be wearing sunglasses. Since this video is about being comfortable and lazy, we will also be wearing socks. Our props will include a tv remote, school books, and a cellphone, For lighting, we may have to use the living room light. This is because we will most likely have to film in the evening ...

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
Good night everyone, I am back with another update on my music video partnered with my best friend Kendia. We were having a block on inspiration, hence, we searched up songs and cover songs of The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars. In the first video we watched, which was the original music video by Bruno Mars, we observed the way he sang, danced, and acted along with his partnering monkey crew. We also noticed that as the costume for the video, all the characters wore a plaid long sleeve shirt with black pants. We also took notice that the setting was the same place for the entire video. Also, there was no specific dance routine for the whole video. The actors just had fun with it and synchronized on some parts. In the video, they also used extreme close shots and long or wide shots. In the next video, we watched to boost our inspiration, we watched a cover video in which a group of girls put their twist and style to the song. Like in common with the original music video, the setting was ...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
Hello lovely people and welcome to a new set of blogs. In the last class on Tuesday, November 10th, we were given our next filming project which is a music video. For this project, we were given the choice to pick a partner or to work individually. I decide to work with my best friend, Kendia. I choose her as a partner because we worked on a previous AICE media project and it would help to have a partner. Though she is my best friend, we both can rely on each other to stay focus and organized on an assignment. In choosing a partner we had to make sure we would be able to collaborate in our to do the project. Kendia and I lived close to each other so it would have not been difficult to work on the project. I also chose her as a partner because I felt like this assignment would be fun to do with her and since we both take the class we could do it together. In choosing our song we had to take some time to think. When thinking of a song, it felt hard to think of a good one at the top of ou...

Critical Reflection Questions: Dasani Commercial

Image
T    Through my research, I realized that the Dasani commercial would do a close-up of the water bottle. In my first scene, I did a close up of me placing down the jump rope and Dasani water bottle. I used a close-up so that the viewer would see the product closely. In water bottle commercials, the actors may do sports-related activities or something tiresome. In my commercial, I had each actor do a certain activity. For example, in the third scene, my brother is doing his schoolwork in his notebook. In the third scene, I am jumping rope outside in my apartment hallway and for the fourth scene, my sister is running up the stairs. All these tasks can make someone thirsty or want to drink a bottle of water. It is not a water bottle commercial without having the actors taking a sip or drink of water with a satisfied or refreshed expression. In my fifth scene, I had my actors and myself be recorded taking a refreshing drink from the Dasani water bottle. Another common convention i...

Dasani Water Bottle Commercial

Image
With this commercial assignment, we were to work on this individually, so I learned to edit things on my own. With this commercial, I have learned how to put transitions between clips. Compared to our last assignment, this commercial help put my knowledge to the test. I had to make sure that I filmed using different shots, camera angles, and consider the important mise en scene of a water bottle commercial. I also had to put in the common conventions in my video. One common convention was that water bottle commercials always show the logo of the product. In every scene, I had the Dasani logo appear. I learned a lot more in the editing process. When editing, I learned how to insert transitions and how to compress or shorten a video without cutting the video short. I also used audio effects like silencing the sound and bringing the volume of a specific video up. When dumping the footage into my computer, I would have to save each video to my Google drive, wait for it to download, and the...

Editing Blog

Image
After finishing my first day of filming, I started editing Saturday, October 31. On that day, I chose what videos will be put in the commercial. Then, I transferred all those videos to my computer. Next, I made sure to arrange the clips in order as they appear on the storyboard. All the clips had some outside noise, so I made sure to silence the noise. Next, I looked up background music to replace the silence. The music was 2 minutes long, so I had to cut it short to when the commercial ends. For this, I also had to make sure I saved the link to where I found the music so that I gave credit to its creator. Then I played the preview of the commercial to see where I needed to make cuts, speed things up, and fix any errors. The whole commercial was forty-three seconds. As predicted, the stairs scene was too long. I had to refilm the stair scene to make it shorter, and the jumping rope scene was missing the prop. I refilmed all these scenes on Sunday, November 1. After filming those p...

Filming Blog

Image
For starters, the filming process was delayed because I did not buy the props: a Dasani water bottle and jump rope. I started filming on Friday, October 30. After school, I went straight to get the props and costumes prepared. In my planning blog, I was to wear a cotton t-shirt, leggings, and sneakers. I could not find my athletic cotton t-shirt, so I wore a t-shirt made of different material. My siblings(actors) were to wear casual clothing. Before I could film, I waited for my siblings to come home from school. For the filming process, I had to show my sister how to film certain scenes. For the first few scenes, the setting was to be outside in the apartment hallway and the stairs. The first scene we shot was the closeup of me putting down the Dasani water bottle and jump rope on the ground. Next, we went on to film the scene of myself jumping rope using a full shot. My sister had to take multiple videos since I kept on stumbling on the jump rope and laughing. After we got my scenes ...
